A commitment to better guzheng.
The soundboard, bridges, strings, construction and setup work together. Construction method alone does not determine tonal character or quality. Compare specific models through demonstrations and trial playing.
Carved-soundboard guzheng
The soundboard is carved to shape and combined with the rest of the instrument’s structure.
Single-block carved guzheng
A resonating cavity is carved into a single block of wood.
Portable guzheng
Compact models shorter than 163 cm. Check the string count and your teacher’s requirements.
Lingxi tuning-assisted guzheng
Lingxi automatically adjusts string tension through its Lingzhou Yueshan mechanism for tuning, retuning to a different key and alternative tunings. The strings still produce acoustic sound by vibrating. Confirm functions against the specific model’s documentation and demonstration.
Wood descriptions follow supplier trade names; they do not constitute independent species identification or international trade certification. Confirm botanical names and import documents before ordering if required.

What is Tongyun Guzheng? Its Lankao roots and how to compare instruments
Learn about Tongyun’s manufacturing background and compare individual guzheng models through their specifications, sound and playing feel.
Tongyun Guzheng is the brand of 兰考桐韵民族乐器有限公司. According to the company’s official information, it was established in 2012 and operates its own factory in Lankao, Henan, China, developing, manufacturing and selling traditional musical instruments.
Tongyun’s guiding idea is to make the guzheng better. Its product approach considers how the soundboard, bridges, strings, resonating structure and setup work together. A wood name or decorative finish provides only part of the information needed to understand an instrument.
When browsing the catalogue, distinguish traditional guzheng, portable models and the Lingxi smart series. Check the dimensions, string count and construction of the particular model. Lingxi adds smart tuning and key-changing functions to an acoustic guzheng.
For an enquiry, provide your learning stage, teacher’s requirements, budget and destination. Request specifications and a playing demonstration for the exact model. Tongyun manufactures and sells instruments; the use of its instruments in teaching does not mean that the company offers lessons.
Where are Tongyun instruments made? Official company information identifies its own factory in Lankao, Henan, China.
Is the wood name enough to choose a guzheng? Also compare specifications, strings, construction, sound and playing feel. This follows Tongyun’s stated approach to the complete instrument.
Design aims of core construction features
Tongyun considers soundboard treatment, bridge contact, strings and structure as a complete system. Its luomian process concerns soundboard thickness and curvature. Full-contact anti-slip bridges are designed to support vibration transfer and playing stability through bridge-foot contact with the soundboard. Check model-specific construction; results also depend on environment, transport, setup and care.
